Salisbury Composite High School Takes Culinary Gold
Posted on May 13, 2014
Congratulations to the culinary team from Sherwood Park’s Salisbury Composite High School! The team defeated 15 other teams to bring home gold from the High School Culinary Challenge Awards Dinner on Monday, March 3. Silver went to St. Albert’s Bellerose Composite High School and bronze went Jasper Place High School in Edmonton.
Teams competed by cooking a three-course meal at this year’s High School Culinary Challenge on February 8 at NAIT’s Hokanson Centre for Culinary Arts. They were judged on preparation, timing, sanitation, presentation and, of course, taste!
“We were really impressed with the efforts and skills shown by all of the students this year,” said Chef Simon Smotkowicz. “We’re noticing the caliber of teaching and cooking is increasing year by year. As they continue to compete, the teachers and the teams are getting really good.” This was the 7th year for the event.
